Apptronik raises $520M at $5.5B valuation; Apollo's Mercedes-Benz, GXO, and Jabil pilots anchor the enterprise-humanoid bet

Apptronik closed a $520 million Series A at a $5.5 billion valuation on February 11, 2026, with Google and Mercedes-Benz as lead backers of the round. The Austin-based humanoid maker's Apollo robot is in active pilots across three Fortune-500 customers: Mercedes-Benz at the Berlin-Marienfelde Digital Factory and a Hungarian assembly plant, GXO Logistics under a multi-phase R&D-to-distribution-center program, and Jabil under a manufacturing partnership that positions Jabil sites to both produce Apollo units and operate them in inspection, sorting, lineside delivery, fixture placement, and sub-assembly tasks.

Why it matters

Apollo's deployment pattern is the third structurally distinct shape in commercial humanoid coverage. Agility's Digit went deep with one customer: 100,000 totes at a single GXO distribution center, generating shipped-throughput data. 1X's NEO went direct-to-consumer with teleoperation explicitly disclosed. Apptronik went wide across enterprise: three Fortune-500 partnerships locked in before scaled-throughput data exists from any of them. The Mercedes-Benz and Google participation in the Series A makes the bet legible: two of the customer-side incentive owners are also capital-side incentive owners, and the round funds the production-line scale that the Jabil partnership is specifically structured to deliver.

For operators tracking where humanoid commercial deployment lands first, the three patterns are not interchangeable. Depth-with-one-customer (Digit) tests whether one workflow can be reliably automated to industrial duty cycles. Direct-to-consumer (NEO) tests whether households tolerate a teleoperation-bridged product at a $20K price point. Enterprise breadth (Apollo) tests whether Fortune-500 procurement organizations will fund their own humanoid pipeline before any maker has shipped scaled-throughput evidence. The Apollo answer is partially in. The contracts and the capital both say yes. But the per-deployment throughput data analogous to GXO Flowery Branch's 100,000-tote figure has not yet been published. The next operator question is which of the three Apollo deployments produces a comparable scaled-operations data point first.

Agility's Digit clears 100,000 totes at GXO Flowery Branch: the first scaled-operations data point for commercial humanoid robots-as-a-service

Agility Robotics' Digit humanoid has moved more than 100,000 totes at GXO Logistics' Flowery Branch, Georgia distribution center, performing live fulfillment tasks: picking totes from autonomous mobile robots, loading items onto conveyors, and stacking containers across floor locations. The deployment runs under the industry-first multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement Agility and GXO signed earlier in the partnership, making this the first commercial humanoid RaaS deployment to produce scaled-operations data and the first published throughput figure of its kind from any humanoid maker.

Why it matters

Digit at GXO is the working counter-example to the verified-vs-claimed pattern that anchors recent humanoid coverage. Tesla's We, Robot demonstrations were teleoperated and framed as autonomous; 1X opened NEO pre-orders with teleoperation disclosed as the path to consumer rollout. Both signals are about how makers describe their work. The 100,000-tote figure is about whether the work happens. The number itself is the editorial argument: real cycles, in a paying customer's facility, under a contracted service model, generating throughput data that can be modeled rather than claimed.

For operators evaluating where humanoids actually shift cost-per-unit math today, GXO Flowery Branch is the cleanest available data point. The contract structure matters as much as the count. RaaS shifts the deployment from capex to opex and puts Agility on the hook for uptime SLAs the way a logistics-automation incumbent would be. Reporting characterized the milestone as "a data-driven shot in the humanoid wars," and the framing reflects what's now in play. The next operator question is what the second-customer contract looks like and at what throughput threshold the per-tote economics start undercutting human-only fulfillment in comparable facilities.
